Viktor Aleshkov – lirico spinto tenor

Viktor Aleshkov studied voice at the Novosibirsk Conservatory, where he sang numerous leading roles with the Conservatory Opera Studio, including Mozart in Rimsky-Korsakov’s Mozart and Salieri, Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana and Hermann in Pique Dame, among others.

Upon completion of his studies, he was engaged for 3 years as a soloist with the Operetta Theatre Novosibirsk, where his repertoire included roles such as Camille de Rossillon in Die lustige Witwe and Alfred in Die Fledermaus. This was followed by a guest engagement at the Academy Theater of Opera and Ballet Novosibirsk as Lenski in Eugene Onegin. He then became an ensemble member of the St. Petersburg Opera, where he continues to sing today, having interpreted numerous roles of the Russian repertory, such as Prince Schuiskij and Grigorij Otrepjev (both in Boris Godunov), Icharev (Igroki), Hermann and Lenski. Further roles include Guglielmo (Viva la Mamma), Duca di Mantova (Rigoletto), Alfredo (La Traviata), Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), Maurizio (Adriana Lecouvreur) and most recently Cavaradossi  in Tosca, Male Chorus in Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia and Don Jerome in Prokofiev’s Betrothal in a Monastery .

Guest engagements have brought Viktor Aleshkov to the Rimskij-Korsakov Theater St. Petersburg and the Alexandertheater Helsinki as Rodolfo in La Bohème, to the Finnish National Opera as Grigorij Otrepjev, to the Vaasa Opera in Finland as Cassio in Verdi’s Otello and to the Music Theater Zazerkalie in St. Petersburg as Rodolfo and Hoffmann. In addition, he was a regular guest artist with the Lithuanian National Opera, where he sang roles such as Duca, Erik (Der fliegende Holländer), Calaf, Pinkerton and Riccardo (Un ballo in maschera). For his interpretation of Eléazar in Halévy’s La Juive under the direction of Günter Krämer, he won the “Best Singer in the Lithuanian Republic” award in 2004. He also returned regularly for guest performances at the Theater Novosibirsk, where he interpreted roles including Lenski, Alfredo, Pinkerton, Boris (Katja Kabanova) and Count Vaudemont (Jolanta), and at the historic Hermitage Theater St. Petersburg he sang Hoffmann.

The year 2010 brought several important debuts for the well-respected artist: first in Vienna, where he was critically acclaimed for his interpretation of the roles Agrippa and Mephisto in Prokofiev’s Fiery Angel in the Odeon Theater Wien under stage director Philip Harnoncourt. Later he made his debut at the renowned Mariinsky Theatre as Count Hauk-Sendorf in Janacek’s The Makropulos Case, and for his role debut as Canio at the St. Petersburg Opera he received the “Golden Sofit”, the highest theater award of St. Petersburg. His return to the St. Petersburg Opera as Canio in 2011 earned him yet another “Golden Sofit”. That year also saw his return to the Mariinsky Theater, where he sang the title role in Les contes d’Hoffmann under the baton of Valery Gergiev.
